For years I've had a "Sand-O-Flex Model 350R" that looks to be really close to the same thing you have pictured. Made by Merit Abrasive Products, Compton, CA. It's metal, has brushes to back the sanding fingers, and works very well. I think Knut bought one after seeing mine. Look around, I'm sure you can find one at a reasonable price.
