Bolt is so named because it absolutely can not be installed with the
transmission in place. You can remove it with a universal socket, but
not reinstall.
Once your transmission is on the ground you'll see what I mean.
My biggest problem with the transmission: old fashioned American
installation techniques do not work. Mounting bolts can not be used to
pull it back to the engine -- bellhousing holes have too much free
play. No matter how careful you are, it will come in at a bad angle.
Input shaft splines are so fine that you will bind and deform them
without realizing it. Trust me -- did it twice. Big old American 10
spline shafts will actually guide the transmission back to the engine.
Not so a Renault.
Be sure the block guide pins are in place. Douvrin was using roll pins
in 1981, but had converted to solid ones by the late 80's (might be a
retrofit to consider).
