Door latch adjustments

I know this was covered somewhere, but after searching for about an 
hour I couldn't find it. I'm in the process of adjusting my door 
latches so that they release simultaneously when I try to open the 
door. The problem I was having was that the rear latch would 
release before the front one, and make the door seem difficult to 
open. 

So I have the door apart, trying to adjust the rods using the 
service manual. I'm currently adjusting the front latch rod which 
is attached to the exterior door handle. It seems if I adjust it 
one way, I can't unlock the door, if I adjust it the other way, I 
can't unlatch the door. Any help?
