Door alignment was Stuck door

Finally, I got my drivers side door open. I took to countless number of body 
shops and mechanics and none of them would touch it. I think that the front 
latch was locked, I think that is why the door would not open. However; when 
I tried to manually unlock by pulling on the rods, I would hear a click but 
the door still wouldn't open. To solve my problem, I took a flat head 
screwdriver and placed it on the latch assembly, and started hitting it with a 
rubber mallet, breaking off plastic pieces. Wouldn't you know the door swung 
open. I have a new latch coming from Houston. But I would like to get the 
door aligned before I put the new latch in. How would I go about this 
process?
