i just had this problem on my last mustang. the rims do oxidize and deteriorate and this
causes the rim to leak where the tire touches the rim. they put a sealant around the
bead of the rim and the tires have held air for years with no problems. you would be
surprised how many older style rims this treatment has been done to. i have done this
myself when i used to work at a goodyear dealership.
