unless I flipped the battery cut-off switch. It
wasn't "dieseling", it was purring. Every gas station
and fast food place and every hotel required the use
of the cut-off switch. I had several gas station
mechanics try to solve the problem (I was in nowhere
land as far as DeLorean mechanics were concerned). No
success.

Then, it disappeared, never to happen again.

As frustrating as it was, it was a heck of a lot
better than the alternative.
