My estimated HP is 300 (which may be a little optimistic) and last year,
accelerating "rapidly" in 3rd on a freeway onramp, I had a sudden
transmission failure. Suspecting a twisted-off input shaft, I was close -
there is a splined coupler that mates the input shaft to the mainshaft. It
is a flimsy piece with large spaces between sets of splines, and made of
soft metal. I had a new one made which is bulletproof, but also must
consider that maybe this piece was made that way for a reason - think
"fuse". Anyway, its working great now. But I still don't recommend
burnouts....
