The handles that both PJ Grady and DMC Houston sell are both metal. I just got mine 2 days ago from Rob Grady, and they are some heavy duty handles, definately not anything you're going to have to worry about in the future with. And trust me, 80 dollars or so is a definate cheap price compared with having to crawl in from the passenger side repeatedly.
