Here in the below zero weather of the mountains of Colorado, high "cold
cranking" batteries are a must. Our NAPA store stocks these batteries.
Also, Interstate and Excide make the same style batteries with
specifications essentially identical to the Optima. And, yes, the prices
are from $25 to $40 less than the Optima. My Optima died after 4 years and
it's death was due to an improper connection of a "trickle" charger
attached by a well meaning friend while I was off pedaling my bicycle
around the world last year. So, I have no complaints with the Optima. I
have, however, replaced it with the Interstate equivalent.
