Remember that us old guys (45 here) who bought their DMC's new can now afford
(assuming our brains are not tiny) to buy seriously fast, good handling,
incredible braking and balanced cars that would eat any modified DeLorean and
just own the D for what it is - a curiosity of the automotive world that came
to market undeveloped and left precisely the same way. Those of us that
bought the cars new in 81, 82 or 83 could've bought very well developed and
fast as hell (for the time) Porsche 911's and have a lot of money left over.
We bought them because they were unusual and admired the guy who had the guts
to do it himself. If John Z. could have brought the car to market five years
sooner, had time to develop a better car and price appropriately, the demise
of the DeLorean may never have occured and "tiny brained" people wouldn't
have the desire to bend, spindle and mutilate as no one does so to 911's.
Every serious collection and museum has one in their inventory due to the
history and uniqueness - not the performance.
