I think you are reading that statement wrong, try reading it this way...

pushed overboard from THE SHIP that we ARE now restoring, to act as fish
farm anchors. What a way to treat beautifully made - and extremely
expensive - castings. . "

It says nothing about the molds being restored. They are still under water 
holding down useless fish nets.
