[DML] rear shock damage

Hello,
I need to replace both of the rear struts on my 1981 DeLorean. The 
dampener cracked in 1/2 on the drivers side(#1 in parts manual). The spring 
is now resting on the frame and I dont want this to cause damage. how hard 
is this to remove? can someone please tell me the procedure. should I just 
jack up the car and pull it off? please let me know what I should do here. 
Should I just take it into NAPA and have them cross it over for the new ones?
