[DML] Passenger's side view mirror

After reading the thread on pedal placement, I started thinking about
other
peculiarities that may have an explaination. One that comes to mind is:

Why is the side view mirror on the pass. side NOT convex? Personally,
I find
the mirror to be nearly useless with it's small field of vision... not
to
mention the shakes it gets at speed (and my tires are balanced fine)...
but is
there a reason???

I'm hoping that it doesn't have something to do with original production
costs :)
