Ralf,
Being Alloy..the wheels wont rust, they would just go milky white and start
corroading..if you had your wheels blasted and just left them like that.
. If you then had them clear laquered, without first polishing them, they
would look rather like "silver painted sandpaper".
Like most things, it requires a lot of effort to get something to look
"right"..(.Metal fininhing / Chrome plating , on old car parts is what I do
for a living)
