Perhaps not Brian. I just did a little arithmetic and found that
oil changes on my DeLorean average about every 180 miles.
"HOWZZAT?", you ask? Well, the car is about 18 years old with
about 9800 miles on it and I have changed the oil on average
of about 3 times a year. Simple arithmetic calculates about
every 180 miles on average. Actually, over the past 5 to 6
years I would put that average at about once every 10 miles
or less.
"Are you crazy?", you ask. Well, oil has properties other
than lubrication and those properties tend to break down
over time regardless of mileage. BTW, oil does not "wear
out". It only gets dirty or contaminated. My oil has never
been dirty but could easily become contaminated between changes.
