Forget what the manual says. Carefully remove the plastic escutcheon that
goes around the inner door release and door lock handles. Look down into
the door and you will see two bolts that hold the door pull bracket to the
door. Remove them - a magnetic socket is a big help, or some gum inside the
socket - and the door panel will come right off. You still have to
carefully pry out the plastic "fir tree" clips of course.
