That explains why everytime I run over a small animal my doors fly open :-)
Seriously, this wouldn't make much sense. But it makes for good humor. If
the D was upside down (in the event of a crash), the doors couldn't open
anyways.

I thought that the following tale may be of some interest to the list:
When I was at a local lock smith's shop to have one of Lee's blanks
(Excellent work lee, they look great!) cut, the locksmith told me that
he had found a document about a year prior to that that he had forgotten
about until then describing a point underneath the Delorean, that one
could rap with a rubber mallet and cause both doors to fly open. He
said that it had been required that such a feature be added to prevent
one from becoming trapped in the event of an accident.
He's supposed to look for it, and told me to check back with him in a
couple weeks. I'll scan it if he finds it and I get a copy. (...and
if such a spot and document exist)
