Hi Matt
I am in a similar situation with my #1458 - when it arrived 3 years ago,
the door lock in the driver's door didn't work. I was reluctant to
install later style lock barrels so set about rebuilding the central
lock module to be reliable, and installing remote central locking. It
was a really easy job and it's worked ever since. I have tried
installing replacement black barrels in the driver's door, but those
things are so poorly designed and made that it's very difficult to find
one that still works, let alone being able to rebuild it, and then
there's the problem of the locking ring which never comes off in one piece
