PRV has an oil bypass channel drilled into it (remove the filter
screen and you can pull the valve out with needle nose pliers).
According to Volvo factory literature:
"The cylinder block is also equipped with a by-pass valve. This valve
will open prior to the oil filter bypass valve."
You don't need a valve equipped oil filter.
My rule of thumb: if it's good enough for Volvo, it's good enough for
DeLorean (engines are essentially identical).
