- Wear and tear on an expensive set of components.
- Stress on an electrical circuit that's under-engineered to begin with.
- Potential draw from the starter motor (can't remember if main/aux
relays are bypassed in the start position or not)
Don't listen to any complaints about coolant temperature. That's
controlled by the thermostat, not the cooling fans. In fact, in the
bad old days engine mounted radiator fans either spun all the time, or
had clutches to stop them at SPEED (not idle).
