It turns out I was an idiot and cut one of the wires for the reverse lights 
under the fuse box when I was wiring my door launchers.   I soldered the wires 
back together, wrapped the solder connection in electrical tape, popped in a 
new fuse, and my lights work great now.   No more relying solely on my 
brakelights to see behind me when reversing.   :)
