Deep cycle batteries-to my knowledge, are made to withstand numerous
re-charging periods. Deep cycles are typically ones you would use (for
instance) for electric motors on a boat when you go out fishing- it
will drain (since you can't just charge it in the middle of a lake)-
but will recharge many more times before going bad as
compared to a regular auto battery. You take a regular auto battery,
discharge it and recharge it numerious times, and soon enough the acid
inside will become just as useless as water, it will not hold electric
charged particles and the battery will be toast. Again, deep cycle
batteries will take vast amount of time before this process happens.
Also you might kill a deep cycle by giving it constant charge as an
alternator would in a car. These batteries are widly used in marine
applications.
