I never claimed you sold 7mm stainless bolts. Don't think anybody
does. Fastenal still has access to 7mm stainless nuts however.
My thought was to use your exhaust studs in lieu of bolts to hold down
the coolant distribution pipe. I'll be buying 4 at Mid Atlantic for
that very purpose on my own car.
My water pump is currently held on by 8mm stainless studs and
stainless lock nuts. I have no intention of drilling bolts out when
time comes to replace it.
Biggest threat of galling is turning the fastener too quickly. Over
torquing can be a problem too, but speed driving is worse.
BTW: my exhaust manifolds are currently held with the reverse of your
setup: stainless nuts & washers on carbon studs. Don't anticipate any
future problems changing those gaskets either (remainder of exhaust
system has been converted to custom duals).
