This is just an early reminder to the list that the Euro 2001 show at the
BMW
plant in Greer, South Carolina is coming up soon. The show will be held
on
October 20; there will be other activities on October 19 and 21 as well.
I have contacted the chairman of the event about the possibility of making
the DeLorean the featured marque at next year's show. I haven't heard
back
from him yet, but I feel certain we'll need to have a lot of DeLoreans
there
this year to make them consider giving us that honor. Last year we had 5
DeLoreans.
For more information on the show, check out their web site at:
www.euroautofestival.com
You can email them at: euro2001info@xxxxxxx
Or call them at 864-814-1078
I'll keep the list posted on what the chairman says about us being next
year's featured marque. Circle October 20, and make plans now to attend!

I know that there is a lot of info in the archives about key blanks
but I am posting this since I have not seen anyone mention this
brand. I had a key made with a "Cole VL5" key blank. The key blank is
from a VW ignition. Every locksmith carries different brands of key
blanks so it's good to know everybrand there is that can be used for
the Delorean. The locksmith I went too didn't carry the Ilco one but
did have the Cole brand.

Robert, if you pull the carpet flap covering the battery compartment
up a little farther, you should be able to see the wire for the
passenger side rear speaker, from there, it goes left toward the rear
quarter trim panel & then to the speaker. It also goes right, to the
center console. The wire then travels down the inside of the
console until it reaches the area behind the radio. The route of the
wire for the driver's side speaker is just a mirror image of the route
of the passenger side speaker wire.

The wires are routed under the center console towards the back shelf.
>From there they are then routed to their respective sides (R+L) and
are roted ubder the side trim (where the seat belts come out of and
where the speakers are) and connected to the speakers. In all
likeleyness they cut the wire under the rear shelfs. The speaker
wires are dual black wires with one side having a white strip. Hope
this helps.

Marty,
Could you describe how exactly your frame was redone? Powder coated on the
outside, but what did you do on the inside? Sealing wax?
Ralf.

Hey every one,
The bulb that came out of the A/C panel is a "philips" part# 12829.
I tried to contact them and haven't herd from them.

Subject: Important Message Regarding DMC's Open House!
12 July 2001
Everyone who has registered for the De Lorean Motor Company Open House
event
was sent this email earlier today, this message is to inform the rest of
the
DeLorean community and those who may yet still be considering attending
the
event.
Much to our dismay, construction delays as a result of Tropical Storm
Allison this past June have made it impossible to complete our new
headquarters and warehouse in time for the event.
We are very disappointed, as you might imagine. Since this fact became
known
to us yesterday, we have wrestled with the "go/no-go" decision on the
event.
All of the registered attendees have made some arrangements to attend
(time
off work, airlines reservations, etc). The fact that the DeLorean Owners
Association is not having an expo in the U.S. this year also weighed on
our
minds. For many DeLorean owners and enthusiasts, our event was the one
event
that they had planned to go to all year long.
It is for those reasons that we have decided to carry on with the event.
While we will not have the warehouse completed, or all the parts moved to
Houston, we will still be having the concours and People's Choice show
(over
a dozen cars are already registered for these two events), we will still
have the rally, the test drives of the cars equipped with our new engine
and
suspension package, and more.
If you desire not to attend, we understand and will refund your
registration
fee promptly, just call or email us and let us know. If you choose to
attend, we promise to do everything that we can to make it an enjoyable
and
memorable event.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me personally
via email or telephone at the numbers below.
Kind regards,
Stephen Wynne

Subject: A/C belt tensioner
Hello List;
The bottom mounting bolt hole, that goes into the timing chain cover, and
mounts the A/C belt tensioner assembly has been BADLY stripped out,
oversized and made completely un-useable. Has any one used a different
belt tenioner assemble on the D. The proper fix is to replace the chain
cover. The cover is thin at this bolt hole and I'm sure others have
stripped this bolt.
(Maybe not as badly destroyed as this one) There have been so many good
fixes on this list I guess I am just hoping for one more.

If memory serers me right both left and richt leads are under the
center console. They are pairs, mine were black with a white stripe
for identifying the positive lead.
> the shop disconnected my rear speakers.
If they did, they probably just disconnected the wires behind the
radio, that's the easiest area to do so.
The original wires are probably still in there...
> Before they were disconnected, the rears sounded fine. I'm
> just looking to splice into the wires to reconnect the speakers
Remember that the maximum uotput of the original radios was
only 4x 15Watt; most modern stereos will output more,
so you risk overloading the original speakers...
Also, by splicing the originals parralel to the new ones you
reduce the impedance of the circuit, so by doing so you risk
overloading your radios' amp. If you really want thoise speakers
connected, I'd advise to put in a small extra amp (there's enough
space in the console, in front of the mode switch and such),
connect it to the pre-out on the new stereo (you do have one,
don't you???) and set up the amp in such a way that at
maximum volume at the head unit, the speakers are not overloaded.
It IS a lot of work, but IMHO safest for both stereo and speakers.
You're probably better off redoing the rear speakers right away...
I have a couple of speakers in my rear wall too, probably they're
further apart than yours; I haven't got a "dead spot"...
There are some pictures in the files area under
"Aftermarket stereo in #05141".
The speakers are just behind the seats,
in the middle of the head rests.
Good luck,

Condgradulations on your new car! Believe me, you are far from being
the only Vegas owner out there!
I hate having to use the list for this, but when I tried to e-mail
you directly, your mail server returned an error that it's host name
was not found. Mail me privately off the list if you like, and I can
fill you in on the local details.

Short of replacing the cover which as you say is the proper fix, you
should be able, after removing it, to have a good machine shop-welding
shop to repair. This kind of repair is not too uncommon and a GOOD
welder and machinist can do a fair job. The question to ask yourself
is how much and how long as compared to getting another cover. There
is n short-cut around this that I know of. Be careful the belt doesn't
cut into the hose going to the water pump! You may not see this easily
but if you put your fingers on the hose you can feel if it is cutting
into it. As long as you are in this area replacing the idler bearings
is a good idea.
