Subject: Stainless lettering kits
I was looking around for Stainless lettering kits, and I found out that PJ
Grady is coming out with a new type of kit; some of which have never been
done before. There isn't much information available yet since nothing has
been finalized, but what I can say is that these kits will supposedly be
nicer, and more "cost friendly" than the kits that are presently
available.
I was told that they will be available around the first of March or so. So
if you're in that market like I am, hang on a couple of months. I'm
waiting
patiently...

Subject: Door Alignment
Dear All,
My doors are out of line and are hard to close, they are not hitting the
latch pins correctly and make a clunk when I shut the doors, I can't
adjust
the latch pins any more as they are a high as they can go. Is there a
procedure for realigning the doors, I think the problem started when I had
the gas struts off but it appears to be getting worse.
Thanks in advance
James RG

Subject: Thanks all!
Delorean owners,
Thanks so very much for your advice and experiences! I've loved the
Delorean for so long, and now that one is finally within reach, the
feeling is indescribable...that is until I actually get my hands on
one.<G>
Thanks again! I'll stay on this list in case I have any other questions,
and besides, it's great to read about you guys and the cars you live
for.
Lance

Subject: Re: Swapping Center-console
Thanks for responding, but I probably have to be more precise:
Section P:03:03 of the WorkShop Manual explains how to
remove the ENTIRE Center Console/Armrest.
All I want to do is remove the bracket holding the radio,
center vents and AC en Light switches. (Part#106639)
The only clue I have on how it is held in place is in the
Partsmanual Section 7:3:0, If I'm right this
bracket/mountingplate is held in place by 4 screws;
two below the shifter-plate and two at the upper edge.
These 2 screws ar Part# SP10133.
What I really need to know is if this can be removed leaving
the armrest in place; I don't want t completely disassemble
my interior just for putting in a radio.
Can I reach the two screws at the top without remaoving all
the leather and other stuff???
If full removal is really the only way I'll probably just
cut the bracket to DIN-size while it's in the car...

When you close the doors from the outside, make sure that you place your
hand by the toll booth window (the small window that opens). When inside
the car, pull with the strap. Also, check and see if you have the metal
guides, which are mounted on both the front and rear of the door, the
guides. If you are already closing the door correctly, then you may need
to adjust it.

Subject: Some things that might interest other 'D' owners...
I just received some new stuff that PJ Grady is offering that I think
other
DeLorean owners might be interested in. I got a new type of key blank, and
new clutch and brake foot pads. The key looks exactly like Lee's keys did,
but there's one "key" difference (pun intended). The molded part of the
keys
from PJ Grady's are made from a different material that is almost exactly
like the originals were. It's a little more flexible than Lee's keys which
were made from an epoxy material. These new keys are a little more
"rubbery"
on the head. This means it will be more resistant to breakage and
scratching, which is how the original keys were made.
I also got brand new brake and clutch pads for the pedals. I was told that
they are made out of a different compound that won't harden over time like
the originals did. And they can't be distinguished from the originals
either. They look exactly like a new one would! The prices for these items
were pretty good too. The keys are $21.95 each, and the pads are $17.50
each
for a car with manual transmission. If you wanted to get all 3 pads,
(clutch, brake, and throttle), they'll cost $32.50 as a kit for a car with
manual transmission. So, if anyone needs this stuff, I recommend ordering
them from PJ Grady. I got them in one day. The number is (800) 350-7429. I
hope this helps some fellow owners out there. This stuff just recently
became available, so I figured I'd let you all know about it.
Have a good and safe holiday all!!!
---Dan
