A hissing AC mode switch needs to be repaired or replaced. The loud
ticking
sound could be your AC compressor clutch rapidly engaging and disengaging.

Most poor engine running conditions related to wet weather are caused by
spark-over or arcing due to aged ignition components.
The installation of an Ignition Tune Up Kit will usually correct this
problem.

is there a VIN# where the switches went from double arrows to blank?

I think what you have in mind is a very bad idea. The fluid pump will
not take kindly to not having lubricant while it is turning at engine
speed. If you want to try to get some more fluid out disconnect the
cooler and drain it. There is no plug on the torque converter so you
can't get any out of that short of dissasemly. If the fluid is really
bad you could repeat the drain and fill again soon asumming the trans
performs well in all other respects.Generaly if the fluid is really
burnt and discolored then you will have to pull the trans anyway. If
the fluid is just dirty and not burnt don't worry about it as long as
all of the seals aren't leaking. Don't forget to check the final drive
level, it isn't the same fluid it is 90# gear oil.

To jack singer and all other members of the list
I don't know about Virginia but the last time I checked it was still
part of the U.S.A. It is against FEDERAL law to tamper with a
speedometer. I live in New Jersey and they take it seriously. On the
title when you sell the car you certify to the mileage. If the speedo
is touched it is to be recorded by a sticker on the door. It is true
in some states after so many years they are more leniant but be warned
if you tamper with the mileage any purcheser or subsequent owner would
have the right to come after you for fraud. The lamda counter could
possibly be used to confirm the mileage and any service records that a
Delorean vender may have could also help. The bottom line is DON'T
TAMPER WITH THE SPEEDO.
Having a shop recalibrate is completly legal.To DMC joe the speedo is
as tamperproof as any car's speedo which is to say that it can be
tampered with if anyone is so inclined.There are many ways to look at
a car and estimate the mileage from general appearances to tires
to wear on interior items.
