Yeah...Virginia is going crazy too. They've been testing gas caps for
YEARS. This is what we get for letting the tree huggers take over. I
think
it would have been fair for them to allow modifications again once they
started using these dyno-based tests. There are lobbying groups for this
type of thing and I'd certainly like to see that happen. My dad's been an
inspector since the emissions tests were created and even he thinks these
new tests are a little over the top.
Anyone else know about or belong to the lobbying groups?
--Rob Hook.
P.S. Tip: For DeLorean owners who get their gas cap tested, the DeLorean
cap is different than most other caps. The inspector may use the wrong
adapter and fail your car. Make him try all the other adapters before you
let him fail you. I ended up buying a new cap for no reason because of
this.

I had the same problem in IL, but the guy just gave up and passed me
without the test since the cap would not fit any adapter he had.

Subject: Angle drive question
Hello,
Now that my car is driveable again I want to get the speedometer fixed
before I put any miles on it(no movement at all right now). I removed the
lower cable where it meets the angle drive and spun it with my hand and
the
speedometer showed movement so I know there must be something wrong with
the
drive.
I removed the wheel and found that the long square rod that connects
the
plastic cup to the drive gear was missing. I also removed the angle drive
and it spins freely and looks to be in good shape. Does this mean that my
angle drive is unrepairable or can I just install a new rod? I dont see
it
in the parts manual. Does anyone have a spare rod they would sell?
Thanks!
David

In Ohio, DeLoreans can get a "collector" plate that costs a couple dollars
more than regular plates, but you don't ever have to go through emissions
testing. Overall, it is less expensive this way than standard plates...
and
no emissions testing.

Hi folks!
Here are some items I've placed for sale on Yahoo due to the fact I no
longer need them due to the engine swap. This is about all I have left,
I've pretty much sold everything else. :)

I just watched the Car and Driver show on the DeLorean and there is one
thing
I have to say. I loved it! Rodger, I think you did a fine job working
with
the crew and coming up with a factual and entertaining piece on our
beloved
cars. I am glad to see our cars accurately captured and portrayed to the
public. I think you have a mighty nice ride, keep up the good work.
