Subject: John DeLorean at the Fall Foliage Tour!
It's not true of course but I wanted to make one last shameless
attempt to promote this event.
I have contacted the local paper and tourist magazine and they said
they would give us a write up.
We should have 12-20 Deloreans and 2 Bricklins on Easton's Beach in
Newport on Saturday October 21st.
This will be a great opportunity to promote the Marquee, so if you
own a DeLorean and can make this event not only will you have fun but
you will help promote our hobby and the car we love so much!
Unfortunately I have to leave on business travel so I will not be
back until Friday Oct 20th the first day of the tour. You can leave
me an e-mail at ladeluca at msn.com but I will probably not
get a chance to read it until Friday morning before I head out for
the Tour.
Dan (Danrc30athotmail.com) will be at the Palisades Mall by the
Tappen Zee bridge from 11:00 am to 11:30 and start the Caravan to
Darien CT on I-95 between exit 12 & 13. I will join in at this
meeting location at 12:00 and hope to be on our way by 12:15 our next
official stop is in Old Mystic CT exit 90 off I-95 (the Aquarium
exit). About 1 hour Break for lunch and off to the Pleasant View Inn
in Westerly RI.
Dinner is at 6:30 at Maria's Seaside Café in Westerly, if you have
not registered yet you can pay me that day before dinner( $35.00 per
person). This will be followed by Tech Session Q/A at the Hotel with
Rob Grady. I hope to see many of you there. This is my last post
regarding the tour, if you need more info
Please check the archives or someone on the list should have info
regarding this trip.

Congratulations Kevin! I was following the e-bay auction on VIN4687
but did not have the time to get to Texas for a look-see, however, I
was still tempted to bid anyway! From the description I think that
you got a good buy, 18000 miles, el doorlocks, cruise et al!
I noticed the drooping doors on the e-bay picture, the D that I am
looking at looks the same. The present owner told me that the struts
should be replaced, but not to buy the regular aftermarkets struts
since they are generally not beefy enough. I recently bought new
struts for my Porsche and they were quite a bit more expensive than
the auto parts store variety. I believe the D struts are about $66
each.

Thank you all for helping me finally get my car running better.
It turns out that my cold acceleration problem was a bad Lambda relay.
Somehow the electro-magnet coil inside the relay went bad. That's strange
since it looked just fine -- no cold solder joints and no meltdowns. The
more I pushed on the coil, the higher the resistance grew. So for now
until
DMC Joe sends me a new relay, I just close the contacts with a little
alligator clip when I want to drive the car. I forgot to disconnect it
when
I shut off the engine (it kept buzzing away with the engine off) and it
released the fuel pressure giving me vapor lock. But that wasn't too bad.
Do any of you know if the frequency valve is supposed to always run
whenever
the ignition is on, or does it decide to cycle off once in a while? It
would make sense that it should run continuously since it is the duty
cycle
of the pulses that matter and not whether or not pulses are present.
Special thanks to David Teitelbaum for suggesting checking the inputs to
the
ECU. After reading his suggestions, I looked through the service manual
and
traced down the relay. From the service manual alone, I wouldn't have
figured it out. In it, they call the Lambda relay a 'fuel relay'. Well,
my
fuel pump was working fine, so it COULDN'T have been that -- but it was.
I
kept suspecting the control pressure regulator or a vacuum problem, but it
was neither.
Also thanks to Robert Rooney, Dave Stragand and Klaus from Germany. You
all
also posted replies that would have led me to the right answer, but I
found
the problem the day before.

I just got my car 2 months ago with a loan. I bought it for $13,000
from a Jaguar/Pontiac dealer. I downpayed $6000 cash and got only a
$7000 loan. I was originally planning on a 4 year plan which would
put me well within reach of the car. However, when I went to go buy
the car, I was shocked when the dealer told me my financing would not
go longer than 3 years, and they gave me a higher interest rate too!
Then the dealer told me how hard of a time they had getting any bank
to finance it. They finally got thier primary bank (Firstar) to get
the loan only after several calls. I asked them why this was so and
all they would tell me was because of the car's age. Just goes to
show you what a lot of people think of the car. What I would
recommend is showing your bank a copy of DMC Houston's insurance
letter. If they know that this 19 year old car is by no means a
junker, and acually quite a collector, I would imagine they would me
more positive about giving you the money for it. On a side note
about
your potential car, I say GO FOR IT!!! It sounds great, with great
miles, and a VERY great price! Who cares if it needs front ties, get
some Yokos for $200 bucks and your set to go!! For less than
$12,000,
I would NOT pass this puppy up! Good Luck Man!!!

Subject: Power to the window motors
Does anyone here know how much power the windows motors draw? With a 30
amp fuse and capability to to run both at the same time, I would think
they would be no more than 15 amps each. But I would also think there
would be a little gap so the fuse wouldn't blow as easy. So would I be
about correct to say they draw 10 amps each? I am wondering this
because of a little project I would like to do this winter. Thanks.
