RE: [DMCForum] Selecting a good watch

I like the Submariner, but prefer the styling on the Yachtmaster (my daily watch), it also has the divers dial. Cartier Roadster is my 'going out' watch, though no diver's dial.

I was always a watch freak until I graduated high school. My parents got me a Rolex Submariner. It is a classic design, self winding, and with the divers dial can double as a rudimentary timer.I have had that watch now for 11 years and have been very happy. The biggest points of concern to me are that the watchbe kinetically powered and have a "sweeping" second hand. I don't likethe "tick, tick, tick" bit.I don't need a lot of features, but one thing I would like is a"countdown timer". I'm not sure that exists in a good analog watch -I'd like to be able to set the watch for x minutes and have it informme somehow when that time has elapsed. I could do without that and I'mthinking I might have to, but I figured I'd throw it out there in casesuch a beast exists.Any advice would be appreciated.-Ryan
