On a local owner's car we used 3M black weather stripping adhesive in a
caulk gun tube.  Make sure you read the directions about applying a tack
coat first.

We thought we did that but it came back off.  The next time it was stuck
like, well, glue.

Hi Jamie,

I didn't see your forwarded message, but: I used basic weatherstrip
adhesive. Mine was yellow; I don't recommend that (it's a little
ugly). I believe you can find it in black, though. Check any auto
parts store.
