I don't usually measure my fires but stoke them "by sight". If they
look about right, that's good enough for me.

That's one of the benefits of fire -- you don't need a bunch of
expensive tools and instruments.

And light bulbs can be very fussy. Not enough voltage, and they barely
glow. Too much voltage, and they burn out. Unlike old fashioned fire,
which basically will burn whatever you throw into it, there's only a
narrow range of voltage over which light bulbs perform properly.
