Assuming that you're on Windows, there is a seperate slider bar for 
MIDI/Synth, just as there are seperate sliders for WAV, Line-In, CD, 
Mic, and overall system volume.

No one, nor any web page has hacked your system, Marc. YOU are the one 
who's causing the loud music. Not the person who wrote the web page.
