[DMCForum] Anyone ever had a door strut suddenly commit suicide?

At 5:30 this morning my driver's side door strut (DMCH) was working
normally. By the time I reached the university 40 minutes later it was
totally dead (as in compressible by hand dead). Apparently the thing
committed suicide sometime during the commute.

DeLorean doors are very heavy to open without that strut BTW. I made
it to class OK, but swapped the passenger side over as soon as I got
home (am now running one of my dying Grady's on the passenger side).
Looks like I'll be figuring out a way to squeeze a set of struts out
of the unemployment too. May FINALLY treat myself to an angle drive
while I'm spending money I don't have.

Anyway, has anyone ever had a strut just give way like that? I've had
them get weak (as my Grady's are now), but never suddenly commit suicide.

Re: T Bar tension: Mine are adjusted just a tad on the weak side (Dave
Swingle's setting). Doors hang about 1" at most.
