Ryan, I totally agree with you.  My front rotors were horribly grooved
so I took them to a local machine shop to get them turned and trued.
Cost me a whole $25 and my brakes are 100% better.

Erik, your brakes will probably never smooth out just my using them.
All you will do is possibly ruin your new pads (if you installed new
ones).
