Mike,

How long has it been stored?  How perfect is the  car?

Greg

about 16-17 years....and improperly. A nice car, good intention to store  the
car, however stored improperly.  It would be an excellent driver or  with a
ton of $$$ thrown at it a "possible" show car...I doubt it IMHO.

It needs a serious going over & rejuvination along with a really  intensive
detail job. The seats need to be treated and oiled. Headliner &  door seals are
in bad shape.

There are some scratches in the stainless. Someone was inside the tank,
either to look or way back then to drain the fuel out of it. The upper fuel hose
panel was off and the screws didn't match. The rear main was leaking and the
pan  had external oil.

The car was undercoated and had the 82 muffler.

The seller is emotionally connected to the car, as it belonged to her  father
since new. She said that her sister is involved in the sale and that she
MUST get $18,000. She went on about how she is losing money...83's were selling
at KAPAC in Columbus for $21,000-$22,500 after DMC went under.

Her husband wasn't familiar with European sports cars especially  DeLorean's.
He knew how to reference a small block Chevy etc, and asked me a few
questions. When I answered about Peugeot Renault & Volvo he looked  scared.

I gently informed her that most properly  stored DMC's or well updated cars
exchange for $18,000+  but  a non runner that needs (who knows) in an unknown
mechanical condition  isn't going to sell for anywhere over $10,000.

She seemed angry at me for being late. I apologized and explained that  I was
stuck in bumper to bumper traffic on the Ohio interstate for three  hours.
That I left Washington DC at 5:00 am and didn't arrive there  until 6:00 PM. My
cell was in an extended network, and I couldn't  get a call to her. I needed
fuel, so at the gas station I explained my  situation to the nice guy from
India/Pakistan and he firmly said no phone  calls!

The traffic was backed up for miles as only one lane was open, and  the good
folks at Ohio Dept of Transportation didn't have a  crew out working on the
road, but kept a perfect lane closed.

Sincerely,
Mike
