[DMCForum] The PRV Gospel, According To Bill

I've been contacted by a special eMail friend who assumed (correctly)
that he was being alluded to even though his name/nic was never
mentioned (which is either quite presumptuous, or he is in fact the
only person with such a reputation).

Apparently my eMail friend *STILL* fails to understand my automotive
ontology -- a misunderstanding that appears to be common to other
Forum members. For future clarity:

I value four aspects of engine (and ancillary component)
design/implementation:
- Simplicity
- Reliability
- Ease of maintenance/replacement
- Low cost of maintenance/replacement

Do not waste your time arguing performance or economy "advantages" of
alternatives (such as ECM) that contradict the above. They are
advantages to you, but to me they detract from what I value more.

Also, pejorative and ad hominem arguments carry no weight with me.
I've been called far worse by people far more important to me than
other DeLorean owners, and lived to tell about it. If I seek to
impress no one, why should I care if no one is unimpressed?

I've said it before, and I'll say it again now: I was messing with
cars long before #5939 came into my life (I'm still driving the same
car I drove in High School, for crying out loud). I'll continue to
mess with them should #5939 ever leave me. My practice as a self
sufficient auto owner does not depend on DeLoreans or fellow DeLorean
owners. I (usually) enjoy the community, but I do not depend upon it.
Any time the relationship becomes intolerable for either party, it can
be severed without consequence. I personally don't feel such an
impasse has yet been reached, but I do not want to assume such for
others...

Oh -- the above philosophy applies to other engines as well as PRV's.
In fact, it covers all automotive systems, not just propulsion.

Bill Robertson
#5939
