Matt, just push it in. Think about it - all it does is locate the end of 
the shaft. Will it matter if it's not located in exactly the right 
place? It can't move because of the input shaft.

The cranks are the same BTW, it's just the bearing isn't installed on 
autos. FWIW I picked one up from Renault this morning and it cost £5.85.
