[DMCForum] Videobob is angry with me...

... and he posted it publicly on dmcnews. So I must follow up here.
Those of you who don't want to read it, hit delete now, because I have
zero sympathy for your "DEAR GOD CAN'T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG" posts.

>> Your a real asshole you know that?
>> to publicly say I am scamming people is total bullshit.

I'm sorry; if I'd have used the word "screw", would that make
any
difference to you?

Robert, your morals are reprehensible. If you were trying to help this
community instead of make obscene profits off of it, you would share
your instructions freely like the rest of us. If you wanted to run a
business you'd buy at wholesale and resell at a fair markup like
our vendors.

Instead, you choose to operate somewhere in between. It's a place
where people need a little bit of pressure (constant posts about your
goods) and a little bit of ignorance (no knowledge of
superbrightleds.com or that the Legacy LN46 is a direct replacement
for our power antennas) to take the plunge. The problem you have with
this arrangement is your customers eventually figure things out, and
when they do they feel cheated.

You further compromise whatever morals you might have left with
half-truths. For instance, "if you buy an generic antenna you
might need to do some modifications to it." Are you claiming you
aren't selling a Legacy LN46 antenna? I could go out to my car,
pull mine and prove it, but I don't have to because you know
I'm
right. Your picture is identical, hell, even the text describing the
antenna is identical! So what you're really selling is a 12 page
color
printout for $32. That's your business, but at least be honest
about it.

See, this is the difference between you and I: If I found a nearly
identical replacement for DeLorean console clocks for $5 on some web
site, I'd tell the community about it. You would resell them for
$40 and hope nobody finds the original vendor. I find that behavior
disgusting and non-conducive to the community.

I'm not looking for a fight with you, Robert. You could, with some
small changes, be a real asset to the community. Your shifter stickers
are nice and fairly priced, as are your bumper letters. Your side
stripes look decent and your work on doing a run of tasteful JZD
memorial stickers at a fair price is nice. You have a lot of good
ideas and some decent business sense. If you cleaned up your language
somewhat and stopped trying to take your fellow community members to
the cleaners on antennas and LEDs, I don't think anybody would
have a problem with you. I certainly wouldn't.

I'll tell you what: I'll take the first step here with a
public apology for using the word "scam". I never meant to imply
that you are a thief, a con artist, or a fraud. You run a decent shop,
accurately and honestly describe what you're selling, ship
promptly
and back your products up. Those are good business practices and I
applaud you for them. Still, I can't sit idly by while members of
my
community are taken advantage of.
