James, I heard about this before (maybe it was from you) and
then I asked someone else in England (I dont remember who)
and they said it that it isn't done over there.

If they really make new mirrors, are they glass?  It would
take a special cutting/grinding machine to finish the edges
properly.  So £45 per pair sounds reasonable for that.  But
I wouldn't expect every branch store to have the machinery.

The only thing close that I have seen on my side of the pond
is a sheet of plastic mirror that you cut to your own shape.
The optical quality sucks, and they are flat anyway.

I am interested in acquiring equipment to make custom lenses
for projects that I am working on.  If I have the tool to
grind/polish the convex shape then I am half way there to
adding a mirror finish to it.  So you see, my interest in
these materials goes beyond the car hobby.
