[DMCForum] Re: eBay... Joe OBrien...

Ubid and eBay got in on the auction game at the same time. But
apparently eBay went the way of VHS and Ubid became BETAMAX, aka no
one was using it. Then eBay took off to what it is now.

There was some other auction site at the time, but I cannot remember
what it was now. For the moment eBay is the only game around. Ubid
is till running, maybe if enough people get pissed, Ubid will start
to come around?

For now though, we've got nothing. And last I saw Ubid was listing
items on like a flat fee purchase system, not really a bidding
format like eBay.

For now, we are stuck with eBay. Just like EVERY other company in
this country, with growth, comes the greed once they know they have
a monopoly. I wouldn't be surprised if sometime soon a competitor
would arise to combat eBay with the pricing now & in the future.
That would force eBay to compete for business, not just getting it
because they are the only game in town.

Maybe we should all start an auction site to rival ebay and become
rich??
