At least you  answered the DeLorean related question.

I think you  are right, that there is something amiss with the pickup coil. 
Both  Ignition ECUs I have do the same thing.

I found that  putting a 2.7K resistor in series with the pickup coil not only
solves the tach  flicker but also now my idle has returned to 775 from an
average of 900 and the  hunting is gone!

I did put a  scope on the coil signal and it is a somewhat distorted sine
wave looking  thing.  When I add the resistor the amplitude decreases and it
cleans  up.

Anyone have  step by step info with hints and tips on replacing the pickup
coil?
