Walt, It Was not clear whether you were able to get the bolts out. If you are I would recommend take all of the twist out of the bar and then removing the bar from the car. THis way you should be able to knock of the plate. Yes, this would involve standing on the rear deck to handle the bar properly.. Just put some 1 in plywood over 2 x 4s. BOB
