I have been in contact with one of the people investigating this and was
told the car is still being held as evidence.  I talk with the guy about
every six months and so far he says nothing has changed and to check back in
another six months.  The car will eventually be sold at auction so I am
trying to find out when and where.

I would still love to buy this car from him though. To be able to
drive the D and as a bonus, not bu gas for it, even if I did half to
charge it, would be great. It'd be my "around town" D. Save the
other ones for longer trips. How cool would that be?
