RE: [DMCForum] dead battery

Your correct about the 90 amps cold. But that is only for a few minuets.
If your talking about the otterstat / the cooling fan switch either works or
it doesn't. They can stick open as they get old
or could break open. But either way, if the fans are off after you turn the
key switch off, then it's off and there would be no battery drain. As you
know the most common battery drain would be the door lights.

  John and all --

Quite honestly, had I been told about the alternator I would have
gotten a new 130 (140?) from you rather than rebuild the old one but
I think Keith was honestly trying to save me some money.
Everyone at the shop was amazed when I told them that the
concensus is that 90 amps cold is underpowered.

Now I'm wondering if the rigged fan switch is causing a short.  We'll
see if the car starts tomorrow.  The charger is sitting next to it just
  in case........................LP
