Your claim is that the research done at universities
and private industry are not publicly funded??  Having
worked for ATT/Lucent/Bell-Labs for 10 year, I can
tell you that lots of money comes from the government
for this stuff.

The Bush government favors Oil.  Sure, we got lip
service about the money Bush is spending on fuel
cells..  WHO GOT THE MONEY?  Probably the oil
companies.  That is like asking a kleptomaniac to
house sit for you.

Plenty of stories out there about energy-saving
technologies that have been bought up by the oil
companies and put in a warehouse to never be seen
again.  I know someone who worked for Exxon who had
plenty of them.
