[DMCForum] Re: Poor running

Hi Gary.

I have checked the CPR with a Bosch fuel pressure test rig. The cold
and hot pressures are within spec. (I'm not at home so I can't relate
them to you) The CPR warms up well within 10 minutes. It was like 6
or 7 minutes 'till hot pressure was reached so I know the heater
element is good. I have verified that my little round vacuum delay
valve works and is installed correctly.

The engine performance is equally poor, cold or hot.

I regret that I can not restore the stock configuration because the
old, blue coil finally broke. The insulator material around the (-)
terminal crumbled and broke.

Be that as it may, my new coil is Bosch and it's only 18k volts.
Hardly a major difference compared to those who are running MSD,
Pertronix or other 40K volt coils. I believe Mike Cohee still has his
old blue, 12 K volt coil if I absolutely have to have it.

I agree that the slight drop in main pressure probably isn't a big
deal. I will not adjust the primary pressure regulator because it
requires shims and I'd rather not dismantle an otherwise functional
fuel dizz.

Rich
