Re: [DMCForum] AC Temp readings

Jordan,

The first thing to check is if the compressor cycles.  If it
isn't then find out why.  Maybe the cycling switch has gone
bad.  If the AC never cycles off then you risk damaging
things such as breaking a valve in the compressor or blowing
a hose.  If yours is an early car then it may not have a
high-pressure safety switch & high-pressure pop-off valve.
If it does have these items and the cycling switch is stuck
on then it can cycle via the high-pressure switch.

Can you hook up a set of manifold gauges to see what is
going on?

I have not seen a DeLorean AC go below 4C.  That is really
stinking cold, and it was driving at night with a non-stock
system, i.e., aftermarket flat radiator fans and VOV in
place of a fixed orifice tube.

I would expect your evaporator to ice over before your vent
temp got below freezing.  What conditions were you driving?
Hot day?  Cold at night?  Is your thermometer accurate? (big
question!)
