[DMCForum] VIN tag question

Hi! Did you ever notice that early VIN plates have engraved fabrication dates, whereas later plates have embossed date like the VIN number ? Anyone has an explaination ? A friend of mine owns #717, and his plate has NO fab. date at all, just a blank frame, that's why I'm asking... Maybe it was a 'company car' or something ?? thanks for your help ;) Raph
