[DMCForum] Re: God Squad -- Islam

Mary (Jesus' mother) also gets good press in the Koran, complete with
virgin birth if I'm not mistaken.

Koran is a difficult book to read because Mohammed keeps jumping all
over the place chronologically. One sentence he's talking about Noah.
Next sentence he's somewhere 1st or 2nd century AD. Then it's back to
Moses. Very disorienting to the Western mindset.

It is fun to read the Ishmael stories. Exact same stories as Isaac,
just using the other brother as the lead character. For example,
Abraham takes Ishmael up the mountain to sacrifice him, not Isaac.

Speaking of Abraham: Three religions trace their heritage to him --
Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, which means believers of each are
religious cousins. Kind of makes you wonder why there's so much
animosity...

Re: Jesus as the "son of God" -- poor Mohammed took the phrase too
literally. In the Koran he correctly points out it is preposterous to
think that God reproduced and give birth to a son. Shows a total lack
of understanding of what Christians really believe.
