There is no curse. Part of owning a DeLorean is a labor of love.
My opinion, just showing up with your car to any event, especially
out of state, shows both your mechanical ability and ability to
maintain your car.
Showing up without your car or blaming it on a curse sounds
like a pretty lame excuse.
If Rich is able to get his car up and running and in Florida by
Friday, it demonstrates his determination to show up to this event
that Andrei and him have planned months in advance.
The more people that show up with cars, the better this will be.
